Commission - Fala and B

Textures brushes from Obsidian Dawn.

Here's the final image of that tight sketch I posted the other day. I really like the way it turned out (and so did the person who commissioned me, luckily)! I'm still getting used to doing the lineless style, sometimes it can be quite tedious! But it's good to have multiple ways of working.

Well, bedtime for me!

Grammar and Tight Sketch

I was searching "KcD Studios" on Google (this blog is the first hit, whoohoo!) and I just realized this:

"I'm a third-year animation student at MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design). I am hoping to specialize in character design and eventually work at a major studios like Pixar, and someday have an animated series of my own!"

"Studios"?

Apparently going to art school has nullified my basic grammar skills. How embarrassing.

Anyway, check out this commission I'm currently working on!

It's for someone I met over Teenycom, and she wanted a design for her wedding invitations. This is the tight sketch and she loved it, so I'm going to start on the final artwork pretty soon. :)

Well, off to Illustration class!

New and upcoming films!

Hey!

So I've seen some awesome (and not so awesome) trailers in the past couple days that I thought I would share with you all.

First is "How To Train Your Dragon", which I am optimistic about. It's another Dreamworks film, so it will have a big name cast, plenty of pop-culture references, and will probably be another mediocre story, but I really like the character designs and the animation looks superb.

Then "Despicable Me" came out with a second trailer, and it looks alright:

Then there's "Prince of Persia".

Now, I love Jake Gyllenhaal like nobody's business. I think he's one of the sexiest men on the planet and for the most part he's a pretty good actor. I'm also pretty OK with Jerry Bruckheimer's "epic" films. But I could not watch this trailer all the way through. This movie looks horrible. Also they're doing the whole "let's cast white people as Persians" thing, although it's Disney so I'm not that surprised:

I bet these videos will be taken down very shortly, so watch them while you can!

Kaycie Head turn

video

First bit of animation done for my short film, "Chips"! I think this is the best I've ever done on a first pass. Hope I don't hate it tomorrow, haha!

More to come soon!

Sketchdump - Misc.

Sketchdump! I think this concludes the sketches I've done from last year through this summer. If not, then I will be sad.

But here. Have some art. It isn't that good.

More to come! Someday...

Off-topic - New Puppy!

We just got a new puppy! His name is Anuk ("Ah-nook") and he is a husky mix, almost 14 weeks old! I don't get to meet him until Thanksgiving! I'm so sad because of this!

So in the meantime, I'm just posting his pictures everywhere. C:

Halloween Illustration

My Halloween picture for this year. I thought it turned out kind of awesome. I'm going to try experimenting with this lineless style more. C:

Happy Halloween!
